\textbf{Solution:}

Let the required number be x.

A/Q,

 =  >  \frac{1}{2} (x -  \frac{1}{2} ) =  \frac{1}{8}  \\  \\  =  >  \frac{1}{2} x -  \frac{1}{4}  =  \frac{1}{8}  \\  \\  =  >  \frac{1}{2} x =  \frac{1}{8}   +  \frac{1}{4}  \\  \\  =  >  \frac{1}{2} x =  \frac{1 + 2}{8}  \\  \\  =  >  \frac{1}{2} x =  \frac{3}{8}  \\  \\  =  > 8x = 6 \\  \\  =  > x =  \frac{6}{8}  =  \frac{3}{4}

\bold{\underline{Verification}}

Here,

 =  >  \frac{1}{2}(x -  \frac{1}{2} ) =  \frac{1}{8}  \\  \\  =  >  \frac{1}{2} ( \frac{3}{4}  -  \frac{1}{2} ) =  \frac{1}{8}  \\  \\  =  >  \frac{1}{2} ( \frac{3 - 2}{4} ) = \frac{1}{8}  \\  \\  =  >  \frac{1}{2}  \times  \frac{1}{4}  =  \frac{1}{8}  \\  \\  =  > \frac{1}{8}  = \frac{1}{8}
