The g-mol weight of CO2 is 44g, and the g-mol weight of N2 is 14gm.

Wo, we are mixing 1mol CO2 + 0.5 mol N2 = 1.5 mol total.

The CO2 molar fraction is 1/1.5 = 0.667

The mole fraction  of CO_2 in the mixture is 0.67

Explanation:

Mole fraction of a substance is the ratio of the moles of that substance to the total number of moles present.

{\text {mole fraction of }}CO_2=\frac{\text{moles of }CO_2}{\text {moles of }CO_2+{\text {moles of }}N_2}

Moles=\frac{\text{Given mass}}{\text{Molar mass}}

Thus {\text{moles of }} CO_2=\frac{44g}{44g/mol}=1mol

{\text{moles of }}N_2=\frac{14g}{28g/mol}=0.5mol

{\text {mole fraction of }}CO_2=\frac{1}{1+0.5}

{\text {mole fraction of }}CO_2=\frac{1}{1.5}=0.67
