if we neglect the wind , then the stone will fall perpendicularly to from where it was thrown from.
if there is wind, well then that depends on the Direction of wind.
now u may ask that the earth is rotating and the stone when thrown up gets detached from the earth so y doesn't it fall in the backward direction towards where the earth is rotating, U will get this Answer when u will read about inertia.
