The birds don't get electrocuted when they sit on a wire because for the following reason:
- Since both the feet of the bird are at the same potential, the electricity doesn’t flow through them.
- In other words, there’s no voltage difference in a single wire.
- Also, birds are not good conductors and thus don't get shocked when they sit on electrical wires.

The birds do not get electrocuted due to the zero potential difference.
- When the bird is sitting on the first phase and do not touching the other wire there the potential difference is zero.
- But when the bird is sitting on the wire and touch the ground, this will lead to transfer of charge that creates the potential difference
- And that will give them electric shook.
- Also the potential difference created due to flow of charge.
- But when they are sitting on one wire there is only one type charge flowing that doesn't create potential difference.
