On dividing the 2 numbers by we obtain the number which is exactly between the 2 numbers and it's also a rational number satisfying both the conditions

We need a number between the 2 numbers which is also a rational number so we just add the 2 numbers and divide them by 2 that gives us the middle number which is equidistant from the 2 numbers hence it's rational and between the 2 numbers
