wheat needs a large amount of water. so these crops are sown in the beginning of monsoon (june/july) or kharif season and are harvested in the end of monsoon(sep/oct). so these crops are called kharif crops.

First

Kharif Season also has rainy season which is dangerous for the growth of wheat crop..

Second

It needs an optimum temperature for its growth which remains unavailable in kharif season.

Third

Pest are in abundance in kharif season which may destroy the crop...
