x = ½ and x = -2 are zeroes of equation (p+1)x² - 3x - q = 0
We know that,
Sum of zeroes = -(x coefficient)/x² coefficient
½ + (-2) = -(-3)/(p+1)
1/2 - 2 = 3/(p+1)
(1-4)/2 = 3/(p+1)
-3/2 = 3/(p+1)
-3(p+1) = 3(2)
-3p-3 = 6
-3p = 6+3
-3p = 9
p = -3
Product of zeroes = constant/x² coefficient
(1/2) × (-2) = -q/(p+1)
-1 = -q/(-3+1)
-1 = -q/(-2)
-1 = q/2
q = -2
p+q+5 = -3+(-2)+5
= -3-2+5
= -5+5
= 0
We know that,
Sum of zeroes = -(x coefficient)/x² coefficient
½ + (-2) = -(-3)/(p+1)
1/2 - 2 = 3/(p+1)
(1-4)/2 = 3/(p+1)
-3/2 = 3/(p+1)
-3(p+1) = 3(2)
-3p-3 = 6
-3p = 6+3
-3p = 9
p = -3
Product of zeroes = constant/x² coefficient
(1/2) × (-2) = -q/(p+1)
-1 = -q/(-3+1)
-1 = -q/(-2)
-1 = q/2
q = -2
p+q+5 = -3+(-2)+5
= -3-2+5
= -5+5
= 0
