x = 1-√2

so 1/x = 1/(1-√2)

now multiply with 1+√2 in numerator and denominator .

1/x = 1*(1+√2)/(1-√2)*(1+√2)

= (1+√2)/(1^2-√2^2)

= (1+√2) / (1-2)

=-(1+√2).

so x - 1/x = (1-√2) - (-(1+√2))

= 1-√2 - (-1-√2 )

=1-√2+1+√2

=2  First Ans

and (x-1/x)^3 = 2^3 = 8 second ans. :-P
