If x= -1/2 is a root of the quadratic equation 3x² + 2kx +3 = 0, find the
value of k.​

Given -

X = -1/2

for the equation,

3x²+ 2kx + 3= 0 )------(1)

substitute the value of x in the equation (1)

we get ,

  • 3 (-1/2)² + 2 (-1/2) k + 3 = 0

  • (3 \times  \frac{1}{4}  ) +  \frac{ - 2}{2} k + 3 =  0

  •  \frac{3}{4}  - k + 3 = 0

  • k =  \frac{3}{4}   + 3

  • k =  \frac{15}{4}
