your ans

given:-

x=-1/2 as a solution

so

putting values

3×(-1/2)2+2×k×-1/2-3=0

3×1/4-k-3=0

3/4-3=k

k=-9/4

Hey there !

Solution:

x = - 1/2 is the zero of the quadratic equation.

=> When we substitute the value of x in the quadratic equation we will get 0 as the answer.

Hence substituting x in the equation we get,

3 ( - 0.5 )² + 2 k ( -0.5 ) - 3 = 0

=> 3 ( 0.25 ) - 1 k - 3 = 0

=> 0.75 - 3 - k = 0

=> k = 0.75 - 3

=> k = - 2.25

Hence the value of k is -2.25 or - 9/4.

Hope my answer helped !
