p( - 1 /2 ) = 8 ( -1 /2 ) ^3 - k

0 = 8 * (-1 / 8 ) - k

0 = -1 - k

- k = 1

k = -1 Ans .

Hey!!

Here,

X = - 1 / 2 is a zero of P ( X ) = 8X^3 - k

P ( X) = 8X^3 - k

P (- 1 / 2) = 8 ( - 1 / 2 )^3 - k

=> 0 = 8 ( -1 / 8) - k

=> 0 = - 8/8 - k

=> 0 = - 1 - k

=> k = - 1.
