Answer:

a=10

Step-by-step explanation:

GIVEN,

x=\frac{1}{2} is a zero of polynomial.

p(x) = 8 {x}^{3}  - a {x}^{2}  - x + 2

p( \frac{1}{2} ) = 8 { (\frac{1}{2} )}^{3}  - a( { \frac{1}{2} )}^{2}  - ( \frac{1}{2})+ 2

 8( \frac{1}{8} ) - a( \frac{1}{4} ) -  \frac{1}{2}  + 2 = 0

1 -  \frac{1}{2}  + 2 =  \frac{a}{4}

3 -  \frac{1}{2}  =  \frac{a}{4}

 \frac{5}{2}  =  \frac{a}{4}

a =  \frac{5}{2}  \times 4

a = 10
