if (x-1) and(x+1) are factors of 2x^3+Px^2-x-q,find the values of p and q.

According to the question, 2x³+px²-x-q has x-1 and x+1 as factors.

We can rewrite it as 2x³+px²-x-q=(x-1)(x+1)Q(x).

Now put 1 and -1 as the x value.

x=1

2+p-1-q=0 → p-q=-1

x=-1

-2+p+1-q=0 → p-q=1

Please check your question again. There is no such number, because one number can't have two values.
