Answer:

a is 2 and b is -1

Step-by-step explanation:

substitute x = 1

a + 1 -2 +b = 0

a+b = 1

substitute x = -1

-a + 1 + 2 +b = 0

a - b = 3

add both the equations

a = 2

and b = -1

Good Afternoon

How r u?? ❤️

Here's ur answer

Let p(x) = ax³+x²-2x+b

Since x=1 and x = -1 are the zeroes of p(x),

p(1) = 0

p(-1) = 0

p(1) = a(1)³ + (1)² - 2(1) + b = 0

a+1-2+b = 0

a+b-1 = 0

a+b = 1   ------(1)

p(-1) = a(-1)³+(-1)² - 2(-1) + b = 0

-a+1+2+b = 0

-a+b = -3

a-b = 3      ---------(2)

(1)+(2) =>

2a = 4

a = 2

b = 1-a

b = 1-2

b = -1

Hence, a = 2

             b = -1
