Given: x + 1 is a factor if the polynomial 2x² + kx, then k

To find : The value of k .

Solution :

Let, f (x) = 2x² + kx

Since, x + 1 is a factor of  f (x), then f (- 1) = 0

On Substituting x = - 1 in f (x),

2 (- 1)² + k (- 1) = 0

2 × 1 - k = 0

2 - k = 0

-k = 0 - 2

-k = - 2

k = 2

Hence the value of k is 2.

Among the given options option (D) 2 is correct.
