ANSWER

The zero of the polynomial x - 1 is given by

x-1 = 0

So x = 1

Let f(x) = 2x² + kx + √2

Now by the Remainder Theorem the Remainder is

f(a) = 2×1² + k×1 + √2 = k + 2+ √2

Since (x-1)is a factor of the polynomial

So

k + 2+ √2 = 0

k = - ( 2+ √2)
