(x−1) is a factor of 3x 2 +mx

Then upon dividing it. The remainder should be equal to zero ⇒1

x−1∣3x 2 +mx∣3x

3x 2+3x

_______________

mx+3x

∴mx+3x=0

⇒(m+3)x=0

⇒m+3=0 or x=0

⇒m=−3
