If x+1 is a factor of the polynomial 3k2 – kx then find the value of k.

It is given that x+1 is the factor 3k2-kx ....... eq 1

substitute x+1 in 1st equation we get

= 3(x+1)2-(x+1)x.

= 6x+6 -x²+x

= x²+ 5x -6 (multipled with minus for positive x²)

= x² -2x-3x -6

by solving them we get k can be 2 or 3.
