x - 1 = 0

x = 1

If x-1 is factor of given polynomial then if we put the value of x the answer must be equal to zero i.e,

3 {x}^{4}  - 4 {x}^{3}  - ax + 2 = 0 \\  \\ 3 {(1)}^{4}  - 4 {(x)}^{3}  - a(1) + 2 = 0 \\  \\ 3 - 4 - a  + 2 = 0 \\  \\ 1 - a = 0 \\  \\  a = 1

Hope it helps.
