p+q=3 __________1

p(x) = x² +px+q_____2 , x+1 =0 x= -1

p(-1) = 1² + p(-1) + q

= 1 -p +q

» q = p-1____________3

substituting the value of q in eq 1

p+(p-1) = 3

2p -1 = 3

2p= 3+1

p= 4/2 =2

substituting the value of p in eq 3

q = 2-1

= 1

so the value of p & q are 2 & 1 respectively
