If x-1 is a factor of x +7x² + 4x-12, then find the other two factors.​

Ans:- Given:-

p(x) = x³ + 7x² + 4x - 12

f(x) = x - 1

To find other two factors of p(x)

Solution:-

= x³ + 7x² + 4x - 12

= x³ - x² + 8x² - 8x + 12x - 12

= x²(x - 1) + 8x(x - 1) + 12(x - 1)

= (x - 1)(x² + 8x + 12)

= (x - 1)(x² + 2x + 6x + 12)

= (x - 1)(x(x + 2) + 6(x + 2)

= (x - 1)(x + 2)(x + 6)

hence (x + 2) and (x + 6) are other two factors.
