Step-by-step explanation: Taking x as (-1) :-

x square is :- (-1) * (-1) which is 1

Multiply it by 2 and we get 2

and then if you form the expression

2-x-2 that can also be written as 2-(-1)-2

:: Hence, canceling out 2, we get -(-1) which is nothing but 1
