if x-1/x =1 find the value of x²+1/x²

It is given that ,

x - 1/x = 1 ------( 1 )

Do the square of equation ( 1 ) , we

get ,

( x - 1/x )² = 1²

x ² + 1/x² - 2 × x × 1/x = 1

x² + 1/x² - 2 = 1

x² + 1/x² = 1 + 2

x² + 1/x² = 3

Square on both sides,

(x -1/x)² = 1²

x² + 1/x² - 2(x 1/x) = 1 

x² +1/x² - 2 = 1 

x² +1/x² = 1 + 2 

x +1/x² = 3
