if x - 1/x = -1 then find x^2 +1 /x^2​ please help ... with explanation..​

x - 1/x = -1

=> squaring boty sides,

=> ( x - 1/x )² = ( -1 )²

=> x² + 1/x² - 2 ( x ) ( 1/x ) = 1

=> x² + 1/x² = 1 + 2 = 3

therefore , x² + 1/x² = 3
