On squaring both sides ,then

=>x²+2(x)(1/x)+(1/x)²=5

=>x²+2+1/x²=5

=>x²+1/x²=5-2

Therefore,x²+1/x²=3

Again ,on squaring both sides then

=>(x²+1/x²)²=3²

=>(x²)²+2(x²)(1/x²)+(1/x²)²=9

=>x⁴+2+1/x⁴=9

=>x⁴+1/x⁴=9-2

Therefore,x⁴+1/x⁴=7
