since

(x-1/x)=6,

then

(x-1/x)²=6²,

x²+1/x²-2=36,

then

x²+1/x² =36+2,

x²+1/x² = 38

(x +1  by  x) = 6

(x - 1  by  x) ^{2} = 6 ^{2}

x ^{2} + 1by \: x ^{2} - 2 = 36

x ^{2} + 1by \: x^{2} = 36 +2

x ^{2} + 1by \: x ^{2} = 38
