Now, on sqauring both the sides
( x - 1 / x )² = √3²
( a - в )² = a² + в² - 2aв
x² + ( 1 / x )² - ( 2 × x × 1 / x ) = √3 × √3
x² + 1 / x² - 2 = 3
x² + 1 / x² = 3 + 2
x² + 1 / x² = 5
