if x=1,y=2 is a solution of the equation a^2x+ay=3,find the values of a

hello friend , here we simply have to put the value of x=1 and y=2 in the given the equation
a^2x + ay = 3
putting the values x=1 and y=2
a^2+2a= 3
a^2 +2a -3=0
a^2 + 3a - a - 3 = 0
a(a+3) -1(a+3)=0
(a-1)(a+3)=0
so either a-1=0 so a=1
or a+3=0 so a=-3
therefore values of 'a' are -3 and 1,
