Question :-

If x=2α+1 and y=α-1 is a solution of 2x-3y+5=0,find α

Answer :-

α = -10

Given :-

  • x = 2α+1
  • y = α-1
  • 2x-3y+5 = 0

To find :-

The value of α

Solution :-

   2x - 3y + 5 = 0

=> x=2α+1

=> y=α-1

Substitute the values of x and y,

  2x - 3y + 5 = 0

 2(2α + 1) - 3(α - 1) + 5 = 0

  4α + 2 - 3α + 3 + 5 = 0

   4α - 3α + 2 + 3 + 5 = 0

    α + 10 = 0

     α = -10

The value of α is -10
