Given :  x = 2α + 1 and y = α - 1 is a solution of the equation 2x - 3y + 5 = 0

On Substituting x = 2 α + 1 and y = α – 1 in the given equation 2x – 3y + 5 = 0, we get :

⇒ 2 × (2α + 1) – 3(α – 1) + 5 = 0

⇒ 4α + 2 – 3α + 3 + 5 = 0

⇒ 4α – 3α + 2 + 3 + 5 = 0

⇒ 4α – 3α + 10 = 0

⇒ α + 10 = 0

⇒ α  = 0 - 10

⇒ α = -10

Hence, the value of α is -10.
