if x=✓2+1, find the value of x²+1/x²

given \:  \: x =  \sqrt{2}  + 1 \\ so \:  \:  \frac{1}{x}  =  \frac{1}{\sqrt{2}  + 1 }  =  \frac{\sqrt{2}   -  1 }{(\sqrt{2}  + 1 )(\sqrt{2}   -  1 )}  \\  =  \frac{\sqrt{2}   - 1 }{2 - 1}  = \sqrt{2}   -  1  \\  \\ therefore \:  \: x +  \frac{1}{x}  \\  = (\sqrt{2}  + 1 ) + (\sqrt{2}   -  1 )   = 2 \sqrt{2}  \\  \\  {x}^{2}  +  \frac{1}{ {x}^{2} }  =  {(x +  \frac{1}{x} )}^{2}  - 2 \\  =  {(2 \sqrt{2} )}^{2}  - 2 = 6

= ( √2 - 1 ) / ( √2 + 1 ) ( √2 - 1 )

= ( √2 - 1 ) / 2 - 1

= ( √2 - 1 )

x + 1 / x [ • ᴘᴜᴛᴛɪɴɢ ᴛʜᴇ ᴠᴀʟᴜᴇs ᴏғ x ᴀɴᴅ 1 / x ]

= ( √2 + 1 ) + ( √2 - 1 )

= 2 √2

ɴᴏᴡ ,

x^2 + 1 / x^2

= ( x + 1 / x )^2 - 2 . x . 1 / x

= ( 2 √2 )^2 - 2

= 4 × 2 - 2

= 8 - 2

= 6
