${x}^{2} - 1 \: is \: a \: factor \\ so \: x = 1 \: andx = - 1 \: \: are \: \\ root \: of \: th \: given \: polynomial \\ so \\ whenx = - 1 \\ - a + b - c = 0.....(1) \\ whenx = 1 \\ a + b + c = 0........(2) \\ subtracting \: (2) - (1) \\ 2a + 2c = 0 \\ a + c = 0$
