SQUARING BOTH THE SIDES,

 {{ {x }^{2} +  \frac{1}{ {x}^{2} }  }}^{2}  = 36

 {x}^{4} +   \frac{1}{ {x}^{4} }  + 2 = 36

 {x}^{4}  +  \frac{1}{ {x}^{4} }  = 34
