we know that

 {(x + y)}^{2}  =  {x}^{2} +   {y}^{2}  + 2xythen

 {(x +  \frac{1}{x} )}^{2}  =  {x}^{2}  +  { \frac{1}{x} }^{2}  + 2x \frac{1}{x}

 {(x +  \frac{1}{x} )}^{2}  = 6 + 2

 {(x +  \frac{1}{x} )}^{2}  = 8 =  {2}^{3}

 \sqrt{ {(x +  \frac{1}{x} )}^{2} }  =  \sqrt{ {8}^{3} }

x +  \frac{1}{x}  = 2 \sqrt{2}
