if x^2+1/x^2 = 79 find the value of x-1/x

Given,

\[{x^2} + \frac{1}{{{x^2}}} = 79\]

\[x - \frac{1}{x} = ?\]

Solution,

\[ = {\left( {x - \frac{1}{x}} \right)^2}\]

\[ = {x^2} + \frac{1}{{{x^2}}} - 2 \times x \times \frac{1}{x}\]

\[\begin{array}{l} = 79 - 2\\ = 77\end{array}\]

\[\left( {x - \frac{1}{x}} \right) = \sqrt {77} \]

Hence the value of \[\left( {x - \frac{1}{x}} \right)\] is \[\sqrt {77} \]
