Given that the equation x^2 + kx + 4 = 0 has a root x = 2.

 Substituting the value of x in the given equation

( 2 )^2 + 2( 2 )k + 4 = 0

4 + 4 k + 4 = 0

4( 1 + k + 1 ) = 0

1 + 1 + k = 0

2 + k  = 0

k = - 2

Therefore the value of k satisfying the equation is -2.
