Given:

  • x = 2 + √3

To Find:

 \boxed{ \sf \pink{{(x +  \frac{1}{x})}^{2} }}

Solution:

 \frac{1}{ {x}^{2} }  =  \frac{1}{ {(2 +  \sqrt{3} )}^{2} }  \\

Now,

{(x +  \frac{1}{x})}^{2}  =  \frac{1}{ {x}^{2} }  +  {x}^{2}  + 2 \times  \cancel{x} \times  \frac{1}{ \cancel{x}}  \\   =  \frac{1}{{(2 +  \sqrt{3})}^{2}  }  +  {(2 +  \sqrt{3} )}^{2}  + 2 \\  =  \frac{1}{5}  + 5 + 2 \\  =  \frac{1}{5}  + 7 \\  =  \frac{36}{7}
