GIVES THAT :

x = 2 + 3 \sqrt{2}

TO FIND :

x -  \frac{1}{x}

 =  x -  \frac{1}{x}  \\  \\  = 2 + 3 \sqrt{2} -  \frac{1}{2 + 3 \sqrt{2} }   \\  \\  =  \frac{ {(2 + 3 \sqrt{2} )}^{2}  - 1}{2 + 3 \sqrt{2} }  \\  \\  =  \frac{2 + 18 + 6 \sqrt{2}  - 1}{2 + 3 \sqrt{2} }  \\  \\  =  \frac{19 + 6 \sqrt{2} }{2 + 3 \sqrt{2} }  \times  \frac{2 - 3 \sqrt{2} }{2 - 3 \sqrt{2} }  \\  \\  =  \frac{38 - 57 \sqrt{2}  + 12 \sqrt{2}  - 36}{4 - 18}  \\  \\  =  \frac{2 - 45 \sqrt{2} }{ - 14}  \\  \\  =  \frac{45 \sqrt{2} }{14}  -  \frac{1}{7}
