Hi Friend!!

(x+2,4) = (5,y-2)

Compare both,

x+2 = 5

x = 5-2

x = 3

y-2 = 4

y = 4+2

y = 6

Coordinate of x is 3 and y is 6.

Hope it helps....

If ( x + 2 , 4 ) = ( 5, y - 2 ) then the coordinates of (x, y) = (3,6)

Given : ( x + 2 , 4 ) = ( 5, y - 2 )

To find : The coordinates of (x, y)

Tip :

Two given ordered pairs are said to be equal if the first elements of both ordered pairs are equal as well as the second elements of both ordered pairs are equal

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Write down the two ordered pairs

Here it is given that ( x + 2 , 4 ) = ( 5, y - 2 )

Step 2 of 2 :

Find the coordinates of (x, y)

We know that two given ordered pairs are said to be equal if the first elements of both ordered pairs are equal as well as the second elements of both ordered pairs are equal

Thus we have

x + 2 = 5 & 4 = y - 2

Now

x + 2 = 5 gives x = 3

4 = y - 2 gives y = 6

Consequently (x, y) = (3,6)
