If x^2-5x+k was zeroes whose sum of square is 40 find k​

Let a,b be the zeros of the polynomial.Then,

a+b=8 and ab=k

Given,

a 2 +b 2 =40(a+b)

2 −2ab=40

64−2k=40

2k=24

k=12
