Let α,β be the roots of equation (1) 

x2−ax+b=0         .....(2)

Let α,α be the roots of equation (2)

2α=a

α=2a

Also , α2=b

Since, α is a root of (1),

α2−cα+d=0

b+d=2ac

⇒2(b+d)=ac
