x-2 is a factor, so p(2) = 0
p(2) = 2^2  + 4(2) + k
0 = 4 + 8 + k
k= -12

(x-2) is a factor so remainder is 0=p(2)
p(2) =(2) ^2+4(2) +k
0=4+8+k
0=12+k
k=-12
