Solution

Given :-

  • polynomial is x³ - 2ax² + 16 = 0
  • (x+2) is a factor of given polynomial.

Find :-

  • Value of a

Explanation

We know,

If (x + 2) is a factor of given polynomial

It means that , Value of x = -2 satisfied of given equation .

So, keep x = -2 in given polynomial .

==> (-2)³ - 2 * (-2)² * a + 16 = 0

==> -8 -8a + 16 = 0

==> 8a = -8 + 16

==> 8a = 8

==> a = 8/8

==> a = 1

Hence

  • Value of a will be = 1
