$\sf p(x) = x^2 -ax + 4$

Given that ( x - 2 ) is a factor of p(x) .

So p(2) = 0

$\sf\longrightarrow p(2)= 2^2-2a+4\\\\\longrightarrow p(2) = 4-2a+4 \\\\\longrightarrow p(2) =8-2a\\\\p(2) = 0 \\\\\longrightarrow 8-2a = 0 \\\\\longrightarrow 8 = 2a \\\\\longrightarrow \bf a = 4$
