since \: x = 2 \: is \: a \: rootof \: the \: equation \\ (k - 3) {2}^{2}  - 2k - 8 = 0 \\ 4(k - 3) - 2k - 8 \\   4k - 12- 2k - 8 = 0  \\ 2k = 20 \\k = 10

the equation will then become

7{x}^{2}  - 10x - 8

let the other root be a

sum of roots = - b/a

2+ a = 10/7

a = 10/7 - 2

a = - 4/7
