Step-by-step explanation:

since (x + 2 ) (x – 3) is a factor of x4 – x3 – 8x2 – px + 12       -2 and 3 should satisfy x4 – x3 – 8x2 – px + 12

so, (-2)⁴-(-2)³-8(-2)²-p(-2)+12=0→→p=-4  similarly with 3  then p=\frac{-3}{4}

(x –p )is a factor of x3 – 2x + 4.

(x –3 )is a factor of x3 – 2x + 4.

(3)³ – 2(3) + 4=25

i think there is some correction in the question.

the concept applied is same.
