\mathbb{HEY MATE YOUR ANSWER IS HERE }

( \sqrt{21} - \sqrt{20} ) \: and \: ( \sqrt{18} - \sqrt{17} ) \\ \\ = ( \sqrt{1)} and \: ( \sqrt{1} ) \\ \\ therefore \: \: \: \: \: x = y

Hence OPTION (A )

here is your answer mate.....

√21 =

 \sqrt{16 + 5 } = 4 +( 5 \div 8 ) = 4  + 0.625 = 4.625

and √20 =

 \sqrt{20}  =  \sqrt{16 + 4} = 4 + (4  \div 8)  = 4.5

then... √21 -√20 = 4.625-4.5 = 0.125

and...

√18 =

 \sqrt{16 + 2}  = 4 + (2 \div 8) = 4.25

and √17 =

 \sqrt{16 + 1}  = 4 + (1 \div 8) = 4.125

then √18-√17 =

4.250-4.125 = 0.125

then... option a is correct that is

X= y.

hope it helps you....
