The value of the variable, for which the equation satisfies LHS = RHS is called solution of the equation.

Here,

x = 2k - 1,

y = k is a solution of the equation 3x - 5y - 7.

All you need to do is to substitute the given values,

⇒3x - 5y - 7 = 0

⇒3 ( 2k - 1) - 5 ( k) - 7 = 0

⇒6k - 3 - 5k - 7 = 0

⇒k - 10 = 0

⇒k = 10

Let's verify it again,

If k = 10 then

x = 20 - 1 = 19

y = 10

The equation would be,

3x - 5y - 7 = 0

3 ( 19) - 5(10) - 7 = 0

57 - 50 - 7 = 0

0 = 0

Therefore, The value of k is 10

Answer:

k = 10 .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :

x = 2 k - 1 .. ( i )

y = k

put k = y in ( i ) we get

x = 2 y - 1

Now multiply by 3

3 x = 6 y - 3 ... ( ii )

Also given  3 x - 5 y - 7 = 0

3 x = 7 + 5 y ... (iii )

From ( ii )  and  ( iii )  we have

6 y - 3 = 7 + 5 y

6 y - 5 y = 7 + 3

y = 10

We have k = y , put y = 10 , we get

k = 10.

Thus we get k = 10.
