x - 2y = 7 .............1

3x - 2y = 1,............2

form eq1

x= 7-2x

put x in eq2

3x - 2y = 1

3(7-2y) - 2y = 1

21-6y -2y =1

21 -8y =1

-8y = 1-21

-8y = -20

y= 20/5

y= 5/2

y= 2.5
