Given that :

x + 2y = 8......(1) \\ \\ 2x + y = 10....(2)

On solving by elimination method :

Multiplying by 2 in equation (1)

2x + 4y = 16.....(3)

Now, On subtracting equation (2) from equation (3)

3y = 6 \\ \\ = > y = 2

On putting the value of y in equation (1)

x + 2 \times 2 = 8 \\ \\ = > x = 8 - 4 \\ \\ = > x = 4

Required value of x = 4 and y = 2

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

x +2y = 8 --------1

2x + y = 10 -------2

multiply whole ep. 1 by 2

2x + 4y = 16 ---------3

Subtract ep. 3 by 2

2x + 4y = 16

2x + y = 10

- - -

3y = 6

y = 6÷3

y = 2

Substituiting y = 2 in ep. 2

2x + 2 = 10

2x = 10 - 2

2x = 8

x = 8÷2

x = 4.
